One spot is spoken for, which is Ramsey. Outside of that, these rooks have a great opportunity staring them in the face and I hope one of them manages to take advantage.
Long has improved for sure and by all accounts is a hard worker, but he is limited physically. Rochell is gifted athletically but has a ton of improvement ahead if he wants to start. Hill two years ago put on a clinic playing a lot of slot and moving to allow for Ramsey to do his thing, but was garbage last year with the Browns.
The Rams basically drafted two slot corners so one should start there. Of the two Durant is the better corner, he's more athletic and has an ability to play the ball that hasn't been seen in our secondary in some time. Some guys just have that ability to get the head around, the clock or perception that tells them when to look for it. So for this reason I imagine he's going to be heavily in the mix from day one when camp starts. They're going to give him every chance to win that slot role but if he comes in hot he might get a chance outside the hash because of the marginal nature of who he'd be competing against.
Slot was a problem for the Rams, they were one of the worst defenses in the league in slot yardage allowed in 2021. So they brought Hill back, and drafted two guys who can compete there. I think they might have hit big on Durant, but either way that position is night and day compared to last year and if Durant can crack that top three our secondary is going to jump big time. Because he has the wheels to play outside and the ball skills to help make up for that lack of size.
