No way Mayfield accepts a back up job after being a starter for 4 years.
Would he accept a job that allows for open competition to be the starter? Probably. But that's sure not the Rams.
You can only wrap up so much money in the QB position.
Besides, if Stafford goes down for more than a couple of games, no back up QB is going to be a reasonable replacement for him.
The Rams are right to stick with Wolf and Perkins.
