All of us on this board know something about football.
But we know extremely little compared to NFL coaches, and we know even less the basis on which these decisions were made.
One of the things that has always plagued Ramsey is that he gets bored because playing only outside the other team just won't throw his way much. The "star" is one way to keep him involved and not bored. And remember what a physical guy he is. He's like another Strong Safety out there.
In today's NFL there has to be a lot more attention paid to the slot, who anymore can be some pretty large dudes. No more smurf nicklebacks. Ramsey as the star is often in position to cut off the quick short throw thus giving our pass rush time to bother the QB.
When you win a Superbowl using this concept, it is pretty hard to argue... until a different set of circumstances call for change.
