The Rams know that as much as it would be great to have him back, there is a ceiling as far as price/value. I hope he's back for another year as well (not necessarily two), but not if they have to do salary cap backflips to do it. Sorry but he IS replaceable on that defense. Maybe not edge rusher for edge rusher but as far as how they can replace talent and use their money.
But also I don't fault Miler for trying to squeeze every dollar. He's 33, has a HOF resume and now two Super Bowl rings. If he wants to keep playing- and play mainly for the money- at this point no one can fault him for that. It's idealistic to think that most players don't primarily focus on the money, especially for their 2nd, 3rd contracts.
