We beat them at Frisco in the regular season and came close to not only winning but winning easily at Anaheim on MNF. Rams played that Niners powerhouse very well. Oh...And a struggling Rams team beat them again in SF in 1990. It was not just a Rams team that rose up for the Niners in a fluke way. Remember, we went TO Philly and beat the Eagles and Buddy Ryan's D along with Cunninghan and a very hostile crowd. THEN we go to The Meadowlands and beat the next year's Super Bowl Champs. Niners had more talent but we were right on their heels. The Division was damn close. One of our loses was that game at Minny. What a bounce when we block a punt that bounces right to a Vike and takes it for a HUGE HUGE first down. The loss to the Niners at Anaheim was a two game swing. If Doug Smith's hand does not slide off the ball, we win that game by close to 20 points.
1989 was a damn good team that was indeed on the heels of one of the best (1989 Niners) the NFL has ever seen.
