I don't know about that because the 49ers were superior in talent and you only have to look at history as the Rams collapsed after that season under John Robinson, going 5-11 then 3-13 in 1991 leading to the resignation of Robinson and the Rams bringing back Chuck Knox in 1992. I felt the 89 team had a nice run, but the 49ers were just better. This year I felt the Rams were better, but the 49ers matched up well, glad they got it done against the Wicked Witch.
Agreed. I too think overall the Niners had more talent and were the superior team in 89. We were the classic underdog. That Niners team was one of the all time best teams . They were loaded on offense and defense.
Rams had the bad luck to run into that team just as they did with the 85 Bears. Both years I am sure the Rams would have won the SB had they reached it. Both years the Rams were the second best team in the NFL. Bad timing.
