I have a very low opinion of journalists but I understand that they need hits to survive. Titles are click bait.
Blueprints don't fail, people do. Plans may be inadequate but that's because the planner failed.
I cannot imagine any NFL coach not having a game plan in which it's understood that he'll have to adapt, i.e., change his game plan. The great general Moltke said, “No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy.” Another great general said, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."
It's not news that McVay changed his plan of attack.
