....and so I admit, I didn't read the story.
I have a lot of respect for the opinions I read here. And I have read (and happen to agree with) many posters saying for a long time "The Rams needs to establish the run" or "the passing game is set up by the run".... if nothing else, it keeps the defense honest.
So if run first was the "blue print".... he certainly seemed to stick with that.... some would say too long. I say it was a bit frustrating, but it seemed to keep Cincy's D honest. Didn't it help keep their defense from going into that '8 men back' defense, like they did to Mahomes ?
I also don't think he "abandoned" the run (again frustrating) until he felt it was 'time to hand this over to Stafford & Kupp, and let them do what they do'. Yes, it was taking a chance, but it worked.
McVay loves his passing game, so I think he was kinda super human in regards to his patients with a running game that clearly wasn't working. But still had its' purpose.
I think this game really showed his growth as a head coach. Proves, he is still capable of learning...
