A developing defensive power? A smash mouth run team? An innovative passing attack? Playing hard is nice an all but when you only get - a team that was 5-11 before him and now is 2-13? That's an improvement?
If you're going to cite the drop of wins as if it's the be-all and end-all of the conversation then there really isn't a point to discuss it. Because you've made your mind up.
For myself I think he's dealing with a QB change to a guy who is meek and not as capable as the previous QB. The loss of some good players in FA. And a roster turnover with an eye for down the road. He wasn't going to win anything this year, outside of maybe some Goff fans convincing themselves Jared would make that much a difference. Which he didn't.
If I'm the owner I'm fine with that first season because I know enough about the game to see it coming. I also see losing in year two. That's what it's going to be, which is why he needs to find a QB of the future and start that clock running. Investment in the OL was already made though, so there is a chance you can get a not-terrible season from a rookie QB with a balanced run game behind him and line on the upswing.
Difference here is I'm not convinced he'll succeed or fail. Just observing there are some good signs. Also that expecting him to win this year would be taking a page from the John Shaw book of team management.
