The problem in the first half of the season was the early reads being open. That allowed every QB we played to get the ball out quick and worked against our strengths up front.
But things look a lot better right now. They still have some guys lining up too deep, basically playing scared at times. However they also have started snuffing out early reads.
This tells me two things are happening...
1. Morris has been gameplanning well. This is required to anticipate early reads from an opponent for down/distance which in turn is needed to get your secondary ready to play fast and show up on gameday.
2. Players are playing with more discipline now on the back end. The spat between 5 and 24 will also serve internally as a nice rallying point of how important it is to do your job. Shanahan does a great job of scheming guys open underneath which feeds on DBs thinking they can cut corners or look too long into the backfield and lose awareness of their assignment.
Between that and the fact that our DL is playing as well as any unit in the league right now... Means a likely tough outing for that rookie QB. They'll probably put up 13-20 due to Shanny's creative scheming, but it should be tough going for them.
