McVay the Prodigy already has a coaching tree

January 01, 2022 03:39AM
What a great hire McVay was. Not only does he win he already has an impressive coaching tree in the NFL at the head coach level and it looks likely that it will continue to grow. While I am sure this is disruptive the success rate of his assistants makes the Rams a destination for the best and brightest up and coming coaches. What better way to advance your career. The way McVay soaks up football knowledge you can bet he is picking up knowledge and great ideas from each coach that comes through the system. It also helps that he has contacts and relationships with so many people.

You also have to think that integrating the coaching and scouting staffs the way Snead/McVay have done for profiling and evaluating the type of players needed on the roster is a best in class model that adds valuable experience that coaches will want to acquire.

I think this is a huge win win but sometimes has some painful short term disruptions as positive change and new thoughts and ideas to improve often have a period where things are uncomfortable.
