The missing upside is that when Sean brings in new talent (Staley) he learns what to incorporate from their experience to improve the team. Fresh ideas (Carberry, Henderson) are a good thing. Furthermore, McVay's track record w assistants makes it easier for him to pluck the best talent available.

In a league where players and schemes change annually, an annual influx of new coaching blood is quite healthy when it's grounded by a head coach who retains a consistent core team identity.
