Playing for overtime is better that peeing away a win.. you are framing the question wrong.
gambling on way play is not "playing to win" is's a gamble with so many variables

Going into OT gives you a chance to win playing football. Runn, throwing, tackling
and not putting all your eggs in one basket. It gives you a much better chance
if case something goes wrong.
