there is no guarantee you get more than one play in OT. Even you mentioned fumbled kickoff, returned kickoff TD etc. You are gambling either way do you not see that. You can play the odds as much as you want but I take two yards to score over 75 anyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

We disagree on this but its a gamble either way. You play till the last play and your goal is to win not tie. If you think you are good to go OT more power to you, if you want to end it and go for the win I don't fault a coach or team at the end of a game.
