Typically players look to cash in on their second contract (which Donald obviously did) and then look more towards quality of life issues after that - maybe play for their home town team or finish their career with the team they started rather than seek the biggest contract they can get.

Donald will of course be well compensated when he signs his next contract (in 2025). But he'll be 34 then and will already have made over $150M. I don't know what his market will be but I doubt that he'll be looking to be the highest paid player on defense again.
