The Rams cant play Morris's scheme,
.
that is not on Morris. Jones is also playing because of that. And Rapp is who he is. I will 100% admit I was wrong on him. I liked him coming out of school.
But those guys don't stare at the QB, they don;t look at the QB until the pattern reveals. No QB is going to show his intentions early, which is why match zone exists. There is no reason to cover someone when there is no one looking to throw. They only look when they close on their guy. That is how it is taught.
Reeder just cannot play coverage on and NFL level. It's been said for 2 years. There is no scheme he's going to play. But you cannot find a player out of thin air. Reeder is on the team and Young is not. Hollins is hurt. Jones is not ready to play pass downs or he'd be in.
Everyone wants Burgess to play in Rapp's spot. How do we know he's good? Or Scott? Maybe he's better than Rapp. What if he's worse? Maybe Morris and McVay and the DBs coach and so on don't think he's ready to start? We don't know. I sure don't.
And why do you keep saying "Morris' scheme" There is no Morris scheme. This is Staley's scheme. Period. What I see is a concerted effort to blame Morris for things that are clearly not going on.
Rams are 3rd in the NFL in yards per rush. 3.92
last 3 weeks
Offense = 978 yards = 326 per game--how much in garbage time---around 200
defense = 928 = 309 per game
1st downs allowed
But let's not pretend we know what's best for the defense. I don't. All I do is correct the misinformation. It's not the defense I prefer, but
at least I put time and effort into understanding the front, the gap control, and the coverages and when asked can prove it
with the All-22
very few others do that. They just run their mouths on that other board. They are living off their high shcool football experiences when
they played zone defense.
Here is the problem the last 3 weeks
the OFFENSED
when you have an offense that is 29% on 3rd down converssions
with a QB that you gave 2#1s and a #3 plus a starting QB and
are paying him and that other QB and the guy you traded
for has chronic back problems, has a history of being nicked
and has always been streaky, you live with your decisions.
And all the pick 6s are not on him, but that are on the OFFENSE
the missed throws, the dropped passes, the play calls
going for it deep in your own territory, clock management
Rams offense has been kicked in the teeth for 3 weeks
that is the problem.
Morris is not it.
