Yeah, that 3 and out after one of the long GB drives was a killer. There are just SO many issues right now. One that has been recurring, a big part of the quick possessions, is Stafford's accuracy issues. Especially early in games. I don't know how to explain those. It seems that every game, he has to really work himself into being able to complete passes. If I was McVay, I would be calling some easy stuff, extended handoff type of throws to start games until further notice. These play-action, splash calls are not working. Of course, Stafford is missing on throws he should make in his sleep so I don't even know if that would solve the problem or get him into a rhythm.
But, it's going to take some doing to get defenses to respect the run at this point. I think teams are perfectly willing to just never quit playing the pass against us. They know we can't or won't run it forever and they don't want to give up the big chunks. It makes Jefferson's play all the more impressive. But what has happened to scheming guys open? So much of our passing game right now looks like our receivers trying to win 1-on-1 matchups.
