1. Were the Titans game planning away the deep ball and challenging the Rams to dink and dunk and run the ball last night? Hendo started the game 8 for 48...every deep threat in the world won't help when nfl DCs are scheming that away. maybe I'm wrong.
2. can someone be playing at an elite level and not be elite?
3. Would DJax have helped the Rams last night, knowing what you know now and seeing the defense the Titans ran?
my answer is maybe, but only if McVay would have ran 5he ball and used the intermediate stuff. Or if Stafford would have. take your pick. Only then would have a guy like DJax been useful IMO.
1. I want to see-All-22, to see coverages, but what was easily seen is Titans took away YAC. Only 2 plays, late in game did Woods get any real YAC. Kupp, very little, those two always get a lot of YAV yards, tehy are hard to tackle. Last night the Titans secondary and LBers tackled well. And that was a big deal. I also wonder if their OC, Todd Downing, who was Stafford's QB coach early on didn't have some pointers as to what bothered Stafford--maybe that is a reach---but maybe he knew the kinds the things that would help Titans prepare. Or--what to look at in films.
But as far as deep threat, all that does is take one defender deeper than he would normally and give an extra 1-2 yards in the middle zones, which is a big deal.. just like play-action gives extra room underneath-- a death threat opens up the next level enough to give some extra room...that's all I am saying. It does not have to be D-Jax, it just has to be someone--and not every play, just one you 5 and 7-step drops (or from shotgun)
2. Yes---Goff played at an elite level at times I thought he was going to be elite mid-season 2018 he was playing well consistently but could not sustain it....remember Nick Foles in 2013? for 3 months he looked elite--but was he? RG III sure looked like he was going to be elite . . . even Wentz his 2nd year, then they go to Super Bowl with Foles---people say Kirk COusins puts up elite numbers---I don't think he's elite....
3. I don't care that D-Jax is gone, mostly I agree, it's ust that a deep threat is very helpful, which is why we got him and Tutu as the future---both are busts for 2021.... but now, the issue is there isn't one. I think D-Jax was likely a cancer and that is why he is gone.
As for last night, I do thing a deep threat would have loosened the intermediate routes, which is where Kupp and Woods thrive.
