I think most of his money is guaranteed (I want to say something over $40 million is still owed as guaranteed money). So even releasing him has big salary cap implications. Trade, stay, go it doesn't matter (not a cap guy, just what I heard on the NFL channel).
This is what happens when you get a guy with emotional and immaturity issues and then cross your fingers that he'll resolve them. Very often it doesn't happen. Then it begins to impact his play. He's become a very ordinary player at this point in his career. I think the next guy we'll see go that direction is DK Metcalf. Great player, but instantly begins to whine and act out when he doesn't get the ball enough. He's a me me me guy. And, when he gets the big contract, it'll likely only get worse. But how can the Seahawks let a guy that good walk?
In fact, I suspect that although he'll never say it, Metcalf is one of the longer term reasons that Wilson is playing his last season for the Seahawks. Wilson wants to play behind an Oline that doesn't get him mauled every week, and to play with adults.
