Well, some of the defensive woes can be attributed to playing better competition this year.
.
I will 100% say that the defense has regressed.
The reasons may not be just as easy as "Raheem is a douche"
I think there have perhaps been simplifications--but Rams run Staley's scheme
I think there has been an adjustment in roles by players
and loss of a few others
I think the level of competition is alo part of if
Rams being 4-1 is excellent---
I think we have seen who Stafford is--
he will have more games like the first 3
and will have more games like the last 2
Rams will be on the heels of AZ all year--I don't think they
are invincible---
I find it notable the difference in pass yards - which is what I've been harping on all season. The "douche" comment didn't come from me, but I believe Morris is complicit in the pass D regressing.
I do see improvement in the run D (save for the one long run vs. Cards).
My issue with Morris (and I hope he gets it) is; the new players on D are either not grasping or lack the capacity to perform this defense at an acceptable level. At that point, it is incumbent upon him to assign our best defensive backs (Ramsey, DWill) on the opponents best receivers. The "star" concept , IMO, puts marginal defenders on an island, and at this point in the season, they are not ready for it (Long, Rochelle, Rapp).
I will say that if a team allows Geno Smith to drive a team 98 yards on your defense, something has to change.
