Wolford is scrappy. His play on the field reminded me a bit of Ken Stabler. It sounds like he gives his all in his preparation. He seems like he capable of running the offense but also can create and go off script if needed. Wolford has good qualities.
I am thinking about the third QB in another light as well. Wolford's ability and durability have a parallel with Henderson as the #2 back. (I'm not comparing preparation here, playbook, film study, etc.) Henderson is talented and can create big plays. With Akers going down for a season the Rams coaching staff & front office knew Henderson had the talent to be #1 back. But could he carry the load for 17 regular season games and 3 post season games? Can you expect Henderson to carry the load for 20 games in a row? It is better to have Henderson and Sony, with Funk and hopefully X. Jones.
The Rams can win games with Wolford at QB but if something happens with Stafford early in the year can you count on Wolford for 18+ games? Between Wolf and Perkins it would still be a good season. Wolf might catch some magic and spark a run. If he got hurt Perkins seems worth continuing the Rams franchise's efforts at developing him.
