It was a crucial piece of the pie he missed out on. Lot of formative snaps and coaching he is not gonna get now. This is why he is getting force fed the ball in those preseason games, it's the hard knocks approach to make up for what he missed.
Jefferson last year admitted this offense was a beast to grasp in fullness. That his head was spinning a bit until later on in his rook season. And he strikes me as a pretty smart dude. I think it is realistic to assume Tutu's head is spinning the same way because of that missed time. So we're not seeing the confident Tutu who is playing fast. We're seeing the confused Tutu who is trying to get it all down in real time. Nobody plays fast when they're unsure on things in the scheme.
I'm looking at the first half to three quarters of the season as a redshirt. Maybe late in the year he'll start clicking in this scheme. But even if he doesn't it's not a big concern to me, as he is a likely year two impact guy. And if we don't feel him next year then the panic can start and be appropriate.
