Saffold was passable but oft injured at OT but was and is a monster at OG, less injured and truly dominant. Noteboom could well be the heir apparent at LT but was barely passable at OG. I truly believe Noteboom has what it takes to be our future at OT but his skills don't transfer directly to the OG position. I have a feeling Evans is more of a RT than a OG. Very few elite OL prospects can be Pro Bowlers at multiple OL positions or just as good at both maybe a Larry Allen type but even he was better at OG. I understand the value of being multiple with roster limitations but there is also something to be said for finding a players niche and perfecting it. Hindsight being 20/20 the Rams probably lost many prime Saffold games by wasting time at OT instead of just maximizing his abilities at OG. I am also not sure what the Rams gained by the Noteboom at OG experiment last year, might have been time better spent mastering the LOT position.
