NFL: Los Angeles Rams Training Camp

Now things are really shaking.

The LA Rams released their first unofficial depth chart of 2021 on Tuesday, and as previously expected, Austin Corbett is the first starter at center, with Bobby Evans as the right guard. Backup Brian Allen remains a backup for now — but the competition appears wide open.

Offense

The first depth chart also lists Xavier Jones as the first backup to Darrell Henderson, with rookie Jake Funk listed fourth, after Raymond Calais.

We also see that J.J. Koski is on the second team for wide receivers, ahead of rookie second round pick Tutu Atwell, who has missed most of training camp while on the COVID-19 reserve list. Trishton Jackson and Van Jefferson are the other receivers with the 2s, as seventh round pick Ben Skowronek remains buried behind them.

Johnny Mundt was listed as TE2, ahead of Brycen Hopkins.

Jeremiah Kolone and Jordan Meredith are the first-up reserves at guard.

Defense

The initial starting linebackers on defense are Leonard Floyd and Justin Hollins on the outside, with Troy Reeder and Kenny Young on the inside. It appears as though Micah Kiser and Travin Howard, the expected starting duo coming out of 2020 camp, are currently second on the depth chart for now. Rookie third round pick Ernest Jones is with the third team, as is Christian Rozeboom.

The Rams also listed Taylor Rapp as the starting free safety, with 2020 third round pick Terrell Burgess as his backup.

LA didn’t list a third starting cornerback or nickel cornerback, but have Dont’e Deayon and David Long with the second team. Also on the Rams’ “second team” defense are Justin Lawler, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Greg Gaines, Eric Banks, and Marquise Copeland.

Rookies Bobby Brown and Earnest Brown are listed with the third team defensive tackles. Also on the third team: rookie cornerback Robert Rochell and second-year linebacker Terrell Lewis.

There were no surprises on special teams, but Cooper Kupp is listed as the punt returner, Calais as the kick returner, and right now Matthew Orzech is ahead of Steven Wirtel to be the next longsnapper.
