Okay. so if the reason is nonvaccinated, then it's bad.
But if vaccinated, it's okay?
How can the NFL enforce that realistically?
Let's say 5 of 53 players opt out. We know that the D variant infects vaccinated persons. So if this theoretical team has 10 vaccinated players contract the D variant, but none are none-vaccinated, do they get sanctioned? If 1 of 10 was not vaccinated, then are they sanctioned? 2 of 10? At what composition of newly infected players crosses the threshold into the 'penalty box' for the team?
That's a slippery slope right there... yikes!
fully vaccinated persons can still contract and transmit the disease. That is not something many realize, but a bit of research confirms.
"
in Phase III clinical trials, two mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer/BioNTech's BNT162b2 and Moderna's mRNA-1273) were shown to be 94-95% effective in preventing symptomatic forms of the disease. Moreover, similar efficacy was observed in different age groups, as well as in those older than 75 and those with comorbidities."
