big time yards....we need a guy who can get the tough yards that in the past never materialized. Those 3rd down and shorts that ended in a punt or a FG. IMO the big yards will come from the air with the ground game keeping teams honest. As long as the run game can gain positive yards on a solid basis it will open the pass game.
Matthew can deliver those balls that Goff had issues with, we have the WR group who can go for more then those 4-7 yard plays hoping for yac to add to it.
Peterson may well be much more a plodder at this time, but if he can make a 3rd and short into a 1st that's what I want...leave the rotation of younger cats to be the explosives on the ground. He's smart, he knows the game...and most important in my book he can lay a ground work of work ethic that these young guys who will be around more then 1 year can take farther in their careers.
I would like to see either Johnson or Peterson at this point, but if they stand pat really that's a moot point and who it may be is yet to be determined. Shoot AP may hang'em up..that a strong possibility....camps are coming up...players will be dropped that aren't in the mix now as well.
I do feel strong about no to TGIII and Bell though.....they just don't fit this team...a guy coming back never works out well, or VERY rarely, and Bell is IMO too much baggage for a SB contender to deal with....I do think that this is a 1 year deal issue so I keep that in mind.
