I think most likely the idea of a "lead back" for 2021 is out the window at this point. No one is going to carry the ball 75-80% of the time for them this year. They are going to have to do a more committee approach (a 40/30/30 sort of thing). And that's OK. More than half the league operates that way.
You may be right, but I question just how effective it is. Since Gurley hasn't been himself, the Rams have borderline struggled with the running game. Going with relative no-names behind a less than dominant OL has stymied this offense. When Akers started to come alive a little bit, things improved. I think this offense requires more than a plug and play committee.
I also think that RB is easy-er to replace than many other positions so I'm sure Snead and McVay can ferret out a decent RB somewhere in the league. I wish I knew more about Bell's actual problems because he seems perfect for what the Rams want to do. But I don't discount the possibility of a diamond in the rough already on the roster, I'm just skeptical based on what McVay has actually brought in so far.
