Not only the awful 40, but also a 29 vert, 9-foot-2 broad jump, 4.53 shuttle, 7.65 three-cone

It was not just a bad 40. There were more red flags at Ford's pro day than there are in Moscow.

Chiefs have shown pre-draft interest in Pittsburgh DB Paris Ford

Free agency might be on the mind of all NFL fans, but teams are still heavily invested in 2021 NFL draft preparations.

The Kansas City Chiefs are continuing to show interest in prospects ahead of the draft as the Pro Day circuit unfolds. At the Pittsburgh Panthers Pro Day, Redshirt Junior DB Paris Ford revealed that they’ve been one of the main teams talking to him.

“I’ve talked with a lot of teams so far in this process,” Ford told reporters at his Pro Day. “I would say probably the Saints, Chiefs, Seahawks and Ravens, and those are the main teams I’ve talked to. I’ve talked to just about everyone.”

Ford opted out of the 2020 college football season after seven games, citing family and personal reasons. During his career at Pitt, Ford accumulated 136 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, six interceptions, 10 passes defended and a touchdown.

His performance on the field for the Panthers was much better than the product he put on the field for the Pro Day. Ford posted a 4.90 40-yard dash, 29-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-2 broad jump, 4.53 shuttle run and a 7.65 three-cone. Those athletic testing numbers could make him undraftable and teams are going to have a lot of questions about what he spent his time doing when he opted out.

Ford remained confident despite his poor testing, believing that his game tape will speak for itself.

“Well, this stuff’s been going on for over a hundred years now, this combine stuff, so I just do what I’m told to do and the film speaks for itself,” Ford said. “I mean, teams know I can play ball, but they want to see all the other stuff.”
