Further, i dont get the idea that it was all demoff. He is certainly in charge and will bear the responsibility one way or the other. but you paint a picture like he sat in a room by himself ignoring everyone else. meanwhile, there is no evidence of this and its so far-fetched its difficult to believe. the rams have demonstrated time and again that they use analytics, why would you believe they depart from that tendency in this situation?
There you go. Demoff was "in charge". That's why I put the blame on him. The "picture I paint" is of him making the final decision on the rebrand and could have stopped or altered it...but he didn't. There might have been other people involved in the decision not just him sitting "in a room by himself" but as you said: "He is certainly in charge".
As I said before, I am not a Nike fan at all but IMO, Demoff had the final say. He had a chance to say "maybe we are wandering a little too far from tradition" or "maybe we shouldn't mess with the helmet horn" as many people have told him on social media prior to the makeover. His lying about the stolen ASU logo on the hat not being the logo is another story but that didn't win him any points in my book either.
IMO, 99.9 % of fans would NOT have wanted the helmet horn neutered. Did analytics say "neuter the horn'? Did analytics say "use the Fibonacci sequence, people will love it"? IMO, analytics are overrated. Sometimes a little common sense will do just fine.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
