I was in from day one as a kid (11 when they started in spring '83). I thought it was a good, competitive, fun league. I think it's a great idea to bring back some of the old franchises/names/uniforms, etc.
There is
a great book full of stories and anecdotes about the rise and fall of the USFL called
Football For A Buck. Highly recommended. The crux of their decline was basically that there was a particular owner who shall remain nameless who imploded the whole thing for self-interests (shocking, I know...).
