threw the ball all the time
They could have run more, they chose not to
they just threw the ball around to Megatron and others
The patriots never had a big name runner but they
always managed be effective running the ball--not dominant
but effective
it is amazing all the excuses people come up for Stafford
I don't think even the worst franchise would choose not to run when they actually could run. They passed a lot because they couldn't run the ball and because their defense was usually lousy and they had to play catch-up. Why do you believe they could run it effectively and just chose to give those yards away?
JimYoungblood53 made his hay with this perception and maybe he's more correct than we might think.
I don't agree but I don't dismiss his thinking as irrelevant.
The way the Lions organization was ran under the Stafford years has a lot of people wondering what the heck they were doing.
Their running game and defense were mostly a disaster the last 10 years.
The Lions had few years of solid defenses and Stafford's Lions made it to the playoffs but never advanced.
They had some good years with offensive rankings but the Lions were far from a balanced team for what ever the reasons.
Matt Stafford got the nickname Stat Padford by a lot of so called NFL media QB gurus. It's a brutal nickname but it is what it is until he wins some playoff games.
There are those that think he's overrated and that is why he has the nickname....
