Looking ahead to 2022 on offense OL is definitely their only need. Defensively you can look at CB (though if they can keep Williams scratch that) and ILB (added Jones this draft, plus seemingly an easier position to backfill).
We should assume Whitworth retires. And unless Noteboom ends up starting 10+ games and plays really well it's hard to see much demand for him next March. They either let him go or re-sign him for another year as a swing backup tackle.
Having Havenstein, Edwards, Evans, Anchrum, and Brewer as the core returning offensive linemen in 2022 isn't nothing. But it leaves a pretty big hole (holes) to fill...
My assumption is they will stash the Iowa LT and WKU RG they signed as UDFA on the practice squad with an eye on seeing if one can develop for 2022. Maybe the Iowa kid could replace Noteboom in a year as the swing backup tackle.
I don't know, it's hard to find a positive spin in this.
Look at the OL for 2022.
LOT: Whitworth. 41 in 2022. Noteboom, a FA in 2022 and so far not the answer at LOT. Other options: zip.
LOG: Edwards. set.
OC: Corbett. FA in 2022. You sign him or replace him.
ROG: We don't know yet but there are multiple options.
ROT: Hav. Though he's expensive & can be replaced & there are options. Either way I don't count it as a problem.
If they pay Corbett then the issue is LOT. If they don't pay Corbett it's because he's not worth it, in which case they need a center.
But LOT is a looming issue. I don't care as much about NB as a back-up--is he a starter? If not then who is? And btw--if NB comes cheap it's because no one else wants him, so we're talking about a guy no one in the league envisions paying LOT money to. So either he is worth the money in which case he's expensive, or if he's cheap it means he's not considered starting quality.
Rams may be starting a rookie at LOT in 2022, and that's with no first round pick.
Or they could massively luck out and someone lets a quality starting caliber LOT walk, but...that's just not the kind of thing you can count on. They were lucky the Bengals obliged them in 2017.
Not being a downer. These are just the cold facts about the 2022 OL.
