How about some ‘what if’ questions?
What if McVay wants to take off the handcuffs on his O and have Stafford make more deep throws? This question is in ‘bank it’ territory. Would require a bit more time in the pocket which, in turn, would require slightly better pass pro. And pass pro is not a Hav strength, in fact he frequently requires help from a TE. A TE that would better be utilized as a Stafford target.
What if McVay/Carberry feel that one of Boom, Evans, Edwards, Brewer, or Anchrum could actually be better than Hav in pass pro?
What if Rams intend to pass more than they run on any given snaps? They did last year and I guarantee that they didn’t acquire Stafford because they want to run the ball more than last year. Point being, run blocking is Hav’s strong suit and yet Rams probably intend to run less this year.
What if trading Hav allows Snead to plug a ‘need’ at OC, Edge, ILB, CB, or long term vertical WR with the cap money saved from a hypothetical Hav trade? Doesn’t that strengthen Rams for a SB push? I think so.
I don’t think a yes answer to any of those 4 questions is a stretch.
Does this perspective change any opinions among our naysayer brethren?
