Don't you think that if the Jets were committed to Darnold that they would have at some point traded out of the #2 spot to a team that did want a QB? And that the 49ers would get the third QB off the board at #3 anyway?
The 49ers gave up the #12 this year plus 2 future firsts plus a conditional 3rd to move up to #3. The Jets haul would have been similar depending on how far they had to drop this year, and if Darnold was their guy then that draft capital would come in handy if they were hell bent on building a team around him.
