I avoid most big boards (this got long, sorry)

April 19, 2021 06:05PM
because I don't want outside sources influencing me. Otherwise, I could just copy and paste a big board and move around a few names. That said, after I got this locked down, I did take a look at a few. And man are people all over the place on players this year. I've never seen anything like it. Esp once you get past player 25 or so.

Lets take Dillon Radunz - OT - NDSU
the draft network - #33 overall
Tony Pauline - #50 overall
NFL Network - #70 overall
Walter Football - #62 overall

Thats top of the 2nd into the 3rd round. Thats a wide range. So I'll just say I have no clue how close I am with these guys, but I'll give you what I think that grouping could look like:

2nd round:

37. Dillon Radunz - OT - NDSU - 6'-5" 305 lbs. - Smooth mover with enough power to handle bull rushes. Could use some weight/strength for the NFL. Showed at the Senior Bowl he can play OG or OT.

38. Javonte Williams - RB - UNC - 5'-10" 220 lbs. - Has feature back size, excellent vision and power. Can pass block and pass catch out of the backfield making him one of hte most well rounded backs in the draft.

39. Jamar Johnson - S - Indiana - 6'-1" 197 lbs. - A physical safety with good range and good ball skills, he is effective equally against the run and the pass.

40. Christian Barmore - DT - Alabama - 6'-5" 310 lbs. - Explosive and smooth. Arrow is pointing up. For as big as he is, he seems to need to add strength. 2 tech

41. Rondale Moore - WR - Purdue - 5'-9" 175 lbs. - Super electric, HR speed. Return specialist. Smaller frame and has extensive injury history. When healthy, must be accounted for. Slot WR

42. Baron Browning - LB - Ohio State - 6'-3" 240 lbs. - Fast. Versatile (played all over) Good blitzer, plenty of range. Matches up with TEs well. OLB 43/ ILB 34

43. Liam Eichenburg - OT - Notre Dame - 6'-5" 305 lbs. - Good size (could use some weight) and lots of power. He is an OK athlete and can climb to the 2nd level and get after LBers but he lacks quickness that allows speed rushers to give him an issue now and again. LT prospect.

44. Joseph Ossai - Edge - Texas - 6'-3" 245 lbs. - Nice quickness, really athletic with a good pass rush game. High rev motor. Needs to get stronger to handle run defense. 34 OLB

45. Teven Jenkins - OT - Oklahoma State - 6'-6" 315 lbs. - Played OG and OT. OK athlete, but a guy I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. He will beat you up for 60 minutes. Opted out halfway thru the season with a back issue. RT is his best spot.

46. Pat Freiermuth - TE - Penn State - 6'-5" 255 lbs. - My #1 coming into the season, very good size/athlete combo with very good hands. Can block some. A seam buster. Used all over. Combo TE.

47. Creed Humphrey - OC - Oklahoma - 6'-4" 315 lbs. - OL leader and makes all the line calls, A better athlete than he gets credit for IMO. Good power/strength and is a gamer. OC in power or zone.

48. Michael Carter - RB - UNC - 5'-8" 202 lbs. - The Robin to William's Batman at UNC. Big play speed and wiggle. Can catch out of the backfield. More of a compliment back than a workhorse.

49. Richie Grant - S - UCF - 6'-0" 195 lbs. - Ball hawk. Super versatile. Physical with plenty of range. Great athletic profile.

50. Kyle Trask - QB - Florida - 6'-5" 240 lbs. - Sturdy pocket passer with an average arm, good accuracy to all levels and makes good reads and progressions. A career backup from HS all the way up until the last season and a half, will needs some developing. Not a runner at all, but works well inside the pocket.

51. Nico Collins - WR - Michigan - 6'-4" 215 lbs. - #2 WR. Nice Size/speed combo that can win 50/50, over the top or deep. Good hands. Lack of production and opted out. #2 WR

52. Landon Dickerson - OC - Alabama - 6'-6" 326 lbs. - Power blocking team leader that can make all the calls, literally played all 5 spots for the Tide. Best suited as an interior blocker due to average athleticism. OC for a power blocking team. Multiple injury red flags.

53. Asante Samuel Jr - CB - FSU - 5'-10" 185 lbs. - Twitchy athlete with a real natural feel for the position. Willing tackler, but size is a hinderance. Decent ball production. in/out CB

54. Joe Tryon - Edge - Washington - 6'-4" 250 lbs. - 2020 opt out. Explosive, strong and flexible. Can set an edge. Plays with a great motor. Only 1 year of great production. 34 OLB

55. Dylan Moses - LB - Alabama - 6'-3" 235 lbs. - Love his range, plus blitzer, does well to drop in coverage. Athletically gifted. A thumper. SLB or MLB 43/ ILB 34 that can blitz off the edge.

56. Sam Cosmi - OT - Texas - 6'-7" 300 lbs. - A good athlete and a smooth mover laterally, combine that with his great length and there is a lot to like about his potential. Needs to add some weight and strength to that 6'-7" frame to handle power. LT/RT prospect.

57. Jabril Cox - LB - LSU - 6'-3" 232 lbs. - Top notch pass defender, at his best in a run and chase position, Very good athlete that has all sorts of range. Can blitz off the edge. Played outside in NDSUs 43, inside in LSUs 34. 34 ILB/43 WLB

58. Aaron Robinson - CB - UCF - 5'-11" 190 lbs. - Smooth lower half, ultra competitive and a willing tackler. Average athlete. Slot CB that could develop outside.

59. Jevon Holland - S - Oregon - 6'-1" 197 lbs. - Very good athlete. GOOD, like good ball skills, good in run defense, good range, good motor, good versatility.

60. Amon-Ra St. Brown - WR - USC - 6'-1" 195 lbs. -Advanced route runner, tough and competitive, above average speed and excellent hands. Smooth athlete. #2/#3 WR

61. Brevin Jordan - TE - Miami - 6'-3" 245 lbs. - Physical, explosive, competitive. Makes for a tough tackle after the catch. Willing blocker. Combo TE in any offense.

62. Nick Bolton - LB - Missouri - 6'-0" 232 lbs. - A good athlete and arrives with a pop. Struggles to shed blocks. I like him as a WILL in a 43. 43 WLB/ 34 ILB

63. Elijah Molden - CB - Washington - 5'-10" 190 lbs. - Not a big or super athletic slot CB, but has very good ball skills, is a willing tackler and plays smart. He competes. Slot CB only

64. Tylan Wallace - WR - Oklahoma State - 5'-11" 195 lbs. - Smooth athlete with excellent feet. Good speed. Plays physically. Good hands. Ultra competitive, hard to bet against. #2 or #3 WR

65. Milton Williams - DT Louisiana Tech- 6'-4" 280 lbs. - Makes a living in the other teams backfield. He isn't explosive, but he is athletic, makes good use of his hands and has a good motor. Arrow up guy. 3/5 tech

66. Ronnie Perkins - Edge - Oklahoma - 6'-3" 250 lbs. - Powerful with great hands, not the most fluid athlete, he can make plays all over. Great motor. 34 OLB maybe a 43 end with weight gain.

67. Quinn Meinerz - IL - Wisconsin Whitewater - 6'-3" 320 lbs. - OG that learned OC during the pandemic, he is a decent mover, but can get a bit lungey in space. Crazy power and looks to hit anything until the whistle. Best fit as a OC in any blocking scheme.

Thats a wide range, but its easy to thin this list out. Forget the QBs and RBs. No need. I think they want a WR, but not in the 2nd, so remove all the WRs. Same goes for TE. I removed the non-scheme fit OL, although, I'm not so sure the Rams stay with the same OL blocking scheme moving forward with Carberry. Its too early for DL, they don't prioritize ILBers early, so remove them. They covered JJ3 last draft with Burgess and Fuller, so forget them.

That leaves CB, Edge, OC and OT. Oh and Jabril Cox, I have a weird feeling about the Rams interest in him, and I don't know why. He makes too much sense to be the pick.

So I have CBs: Asante Samuel Jr., Aaron Robinson and Elijah Molden. All work in the slot. Robinson and Samuel work outside as well and Molden works at S.

LB Jabril Cox - He works inside early and can work outside late, blitzing or dropping into coverage. LSU even had him in the slot and even outside.

OTs - Dillon Radunz and Sam Cosmi - Both are OZS fits, Radunz worked out at LG at the Senior Bowl as well as LT and won his teams practice player of the week. Cosmi is smooth LT and reminds me a bit of Big Whit.

OCs - Creed Humphrey, Landon Dickerson and Quinn Meinerz - I think Humphrey is a prefect fit, and also long gone, but its a crazy year, so who knows. Dickerson I like, but I worry about fit. And injury history. The Rams have met with Meinerz twice, love team captain, Senior Bowlers and he's both. he can play OG or OC, thats a plus.

Edge: Joe Tryon and Joseph Ossai. Rams met with Tryon, he seems like their type of edge, can stand up off the edge, drop down and line up as a 34 DE and has the length they like. Ossai is a bendy, speed to power edge rusher. Team captain, has played all over the place on that Texas D. I'd love to just stand him up and let him rush in year one. I also think both are gone at 57.

If you are asking me, I want one of Ossai, Tryon, Cox, Molden or Meinerz. If Humphrey is there (he won't be) that would be my guy.

What do I think the Rams are looking at? i'd say Tryon, Samuel, Molden and Meinerz. Heavy on Samuel. If he's there and the Rams stay put, that's where my money would go.

I'll build a vertically stacked Rams board later in the week.

As far as round 3:

81. Cameron McGrone - LB - Michigan - 6'-1" 235 lbs. - A bit raw, but good athleticism, not afraid of contact, developing coverage ability. Good blitzer. 34/43 MLB

82. Trill Williams - CB - Syracuse - 6'-2" 200 lbs. - Super versatile (CB,slot, S ) aggressive against the pass and run. Great length. Great athlete. Little ball production. Jack of all trades/master of none. Inside/outside CB/Safety

83. Quincy Roche - Edge - Miami - 6'-3" 243 lbs. - Advanced pass rusher with decent athleticism and a good motor. Good explosiveness off the snap. 34 OLB

84. Ifeatu Melifonwu - CB - Syracuse - 6'-2" 215 lbs. - nice size/athletic combo that had decent ball production, an OK tackler that will mix it up. At his best facing the offense. Outside CB/ Safety

85. Hunter Long - TE - BC - 6'-5" 255 lbs. - Good long speed and a seam splitter. Size mismatch in the middle of the field. Good, soft hands. Not physical enough right now as a blocker. Receiving TE.

86. James Hudson - OT - Cinncinnati - 6'-4" 305 lbs. - Smooth mover with decent size, good power and plays with a bit of an edge to him. Raw, will need time. LT

87. Demetric Felton - WR - UCLA - 5'-9" 190 lbs. - Dynamic athlete, good hands. a RB/WR combo that is dangerous once the ball is in his hands, Good speed. Offensive weapon/slot

88. Pete Werner - LB- Ohio State - 6'-3" 240 lbs. - Surprising athlete in a good way. Can cover and play the run well. I like his physicality. A bit of a slower processor. 43 OLB/34 ILB

89. Tommy Tremble - TE - Notre Dame - 6'-4" 250 lbs. - Easy athlete with good, not great hands and decent speed that just lacked opportunities at ND. Competes as a blocker, but not his forte. motion action pass catching TE.

90. Paulson Adebo - CB - Stanford - 6'-1" 190 lbs. - Very good athlete with good ball skills and a willingness to tackle. Good speed. Outside CB

91. Trey Sermon - RB - Ohio State - 6'-0" 215 lbs. - Tough runner that finishes runs strong. 1 cut back.Good, Not great speed. I question his vision. Lack of pass catching production. Timeshare in any offense.

92. Dayo Odeyingbo - Edge - Vanderbilt - 6'-6" 265 lbs. - Athletic with power coming off the edge. Better against the pass than run. Torn achilles clouds his immediate value. 34/43 edge

93. Tyler Shelvin - DT - LSU - 6'-3" 350 lbs. - A mountain of a man. Pure NT with the size and power to dominate the LoS. He won't wow you athletically, but he has a great motor for his size and he will clog the middle. 0/1 tech.

94. Benjamin St-Juste - CB - Minnesota - 6'-3" 200 lbs. - physical and long, at his best in a press situation. Smooth, loose moving athlete for his size. Could transition to S. Outside CB.

95. Alim McNeill - DT - NC State - 6'-2" 320 lbs. - A NT in either front. great get off for the size, I love his power and his hands. I wish he was more conisistant. 0/1 tech.

96. Joshuah Bledsoe - S - Missouri - 5'-11" 201 lbs. - Physical safety with OK range and is a decent athlete. Fits my "big nickel" position much like Rapp.

97. Ben Cleveland - OG - Georgia - 6'-6" 350 lbs. - Powerful and flat out nasty. He's another punisher in the run game. Not the horrible athlete you would think of at his size. OG in a power scheme.

98. Janarius Robinson - Edge - FSU - 6'-5" 265 lbs. - Smooth and quick, with great length that he uses well to maintain separation. 34 End

99. Chuba Hubbard - RB - Okla. State - 6'-0" 210 lbs. - A smooth, patient runner with good athleticism. Decent speed. Lacks power, can fumble and not much pass catch production. 1B in a zone scheme.

100. James Wiggins - S - Cinncinnati - 6'-0" 205 lbs. - Super versatile S that can line up anywhere in the middle of the field. Good run defender, quick and smooth athlete. Good ball skills. ACL concerns.

101. Jaylen Twyman - DT - Pitt - 6'-2" 290 lbs. - 2020 opt out. 1st Pitt DT to lead his team in sacks since, I forget his name, Albert Darnold? Something like that. And there are similarities between AD and JT. Super explosive, plays low to the ground and lives in the backfield. Needs to add strength. And maybe come from Krypton. 3 tech, maybe 5 tech

102. Spencer Brown - OT - Northern Iowa - 6'-8" 315 lbs. - Good athlete for his stature, good power and tons of length. finishes blocks. RT

103. Dyami Brown - WR - UNC - 6'-1" 195 lbs. - Vertical WR with good hands and is a good athlete. OK route runner but was limited at UNC. Outside #3 WR

104. Elijah Moore - WR - Ole Miss - 5'-9" 184 lbs. - Explosive athlete, dangerous in open space, lacks the bulk to play outside in the NFL. Needs route work. Solid hands. Slot WR

105. Hamilcar Rashed Jr - Edge - Oregon State - 6'-4" 254 lbs. - Decent athlete with good strength. Speed to power style pass rusher. very good run defender. Big motor. 5T/34 OLB

106. Kenneth Gainwell - RB - Memphis - 5'-11" 190 lbs. - Another OZS RB with excellent vision, balance and elusiveness. Lacks any kind of power and I don't think he has HR speed.

107. Payton Turner - Edge - Houston - 6'-5" 270 lbs. - Long, Strong and ready to get the... nevermind lol. Good motor. Handles the run and has some pass rush ability. 34/43 DE

108. Walker Little - OT - Stanford - 6'-7" 307 lbs. - Agile, good length, smart. Was a 2020 opt out and missed '19 with ACL. Decent strength, but could stand to get stronger. OZS OT

109. Tommy Kraemer - OG - Notre Dame - 6'-5" 320 lbs. - Lots of power, not very mobile. Plays tough. Nice anchor. power/gap OG

110. Marvin Wilson - DT - Florida State - 6'-3" 320 lbs. - flashes that size/strength/explosive athlete combo, but he has just kinda topped out. The potential is there, needs the right coach. 3 tech.

Obviously, you can remove any position they draft in the 2nd. WR could be a real possibility, as is an OT like Hudson or Little. I have a feeling 88 is Little. And I just cannot shake that feeling. I also think edge rusher could be the other choice. A guy like Roche would be a great pick. Rashed Jr fits the mold of guys they like as well. CB Adebo would be an absolute steal in the 3rd, and the Rams have the inside scoop on him with Carberry I would think. The last positions are WR, Felton has piqued their interest. Brown and Moore are HR hitters as well. I think ILBer could actually come into play here. McGrone and Werner make too much sense.

I think the Rams would seriously consider Walker Little and Quincy Roche. Esp if they go Samuel in the 2nd.

You will have to pay the annual fee if you want to see what I'd do the rest of the way.
