I would-because he's never coached Stafford. I also think McVay has more class than to come out like that. At least I hope he does. Then again, I've never associated with McVay.
You would have to explain more on why whether he coached Stafford matters. I'm missing the relevance.
As for the class part, context matters. When someone asks him why he made a move he has to give them an answer. Class dictates that you don't want to tear down the previous QB in an obvious manner. And so far he hasn't done that. But he also has to give an authentic answer or why agree to the interview.
So he highlights what Stafford excels in and that carries an implication that his former QB is not quite as good in those areas. IMO, his answer was full of class.
