You say it’s not a good article. Is it ‘not good’ because you disagree with it? .
If you believed in "to each his own" you would not seek out every real or perceived defense of Goff to join the pile-on. You would also have listened to the vid I provided.
Meanwhile this is why it's not a good article.
It claims McVay said something he did not say. In fact not only did McVay not say it, the claim is preposterous in its own right. Whatever else you may think of Goff, a qb does not contribute to 4 winning seasons if he is simply incapable of reading defenses.
If you cannot read defenses at all, then you are in Johnny Manziel territory.
Either way McVay said a lot of things about Goff. He did not say he
simply cannot read defenses
....
Firstly, I had already seen the video. McVay did not of course come right out and say that Goff ‘simply cannot read a D’. But the praise of Stafford sure left the inference that Goff struggled with it. Many other pundits have also pointed it out. My own eyes have seen it.
So your deliberate exaggeration of McVay’s comments is both disingenuous and duly noted. A clever debate/lawyer trick, frankly.
McVay went out of his way to say kind things about Goff, and why wouldn’t he? McVay almost always takes the high road on his players, including the former ones.
Look, maybe there’s a couple of things that we can agree upon regarding Goff/McVay.
1. They had a great 2 year run in ‘17-18. Lots of happy memories.
2. The last 41 games showed Goff in steady decline for whatever reason. Wasn’t all on Goff, but a lot of it was.
3. The situation between Goff and McVay became poisoned to the point that McVay leaped upon the first opportunity to upgrade from Goff, presumably because McVay felt that Goff could not properly execute McVay’s O well enough. This was done despite great cost in picks and cap room. I think that speaks volumes about McVay’s assessment of Goff’s Rams future.
I believe that those 3 points are all accurate. Can we at least agree on those?
We both already agree that Stafford is a big upgrade over the ‘19-20 Goff, right?
