Kromer is fine when he has vets, but obviously doesn't really know how to develop young talent. .
He has before. With New Orleans, Chicago, and Buffalo.
That statement is way too questionable.
Kromer was a fine OL coach and has been for years.
But the NFL is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ league.
Clearly, McVay and Kromer were no longer on the same page philosophically and decided to part company. Two fine coaches that saw the Ram OL direction differently. It happens.
Was Kromer too supportive of Blythe?
Too dug in on blocking style needed?
Just not agreeing with the type of O McVay wanted to run?
Or something else?
Like with Phillips, I think McVay felt it was time to move on from Kromer. I do know that he seemed giddy after the Carberry hire.
Might be worthwhile to do a deep dive into the OL philosophy and preferred blocking style of Carberry. And was he considered a better teacher?
Anyway, unlike oldnotdead, I remain a Kromer fan. A Wade Phillips fan, too. But I’m giving McVay the benefit of the doubt on the Carberry hire. I can only recall one bad McVay coaching hire and his initials are Bonamego.
