Its curious to me how I have not seen anyone bring up Kevin O"Connelly throughout this Goff/Stafford situation. O'connell worked the closest and the most w Goff. Perhaps his opinion helped sway McVay to changing his mind at Qb.
I doubt it. Everything McVay is doing, is very uniquely him. And any qb coach who comes in and says here was a talented guy who could play at a high level but I can't fix him, is not a coach. Again (cause I say this a lot) it;s not like this was Wentz.
Plus this whole argument rests on a lot of exaggerated points. Has Goff regressed for 2 years? Well 2019 the issue wasn't the qb--and if writers like this don't
know what the issue was in 2019, then, all I can say is, that as weird as this is that's not that rare a blindspot. 2020? I saw 4 bad games, and a player who had it in him to rebound overall.
McVay certainly soured on Goff. But I prefer the argument by another reporter, who says that McVay is volatile when it comes to his assessments of key people. That kind of impatience won't bite him this time, though, because Stafford is such a good acquisition.
