Folks, this is all talk, hype, whatever you want to label it.
All of us hope the cap will be higher than feared. However I think now is the time as PSJ Ram pointed out for a slight change in the way teams can do business for a year or 2 at least to account for the huge loss of money.
But having certain money NOT count against the cap for certain players, this allows teams to protect guys that in any normal year they would find a way to keep them.
I have pointed out in other posts that it is not just teams that are going to suffer but players as well. FA movement is going to be restricted, and the money available to sign them restricted, with a low cap and keeping the same rules. It's just math.
