I would like to see the league and players union allow for each team to have at least 1 player on offense, 1 player on defense and 1 player on special teams, who was drafted by that team or signed as an un-drafted free agent by that team, whose salary only counts 50% against the cap whenever they get a new contract with the same team that drafted them but not including leaving to play with another team and returning to the team that drafted you.
This would be a great way to keep great players playing on the team that drafted them. Would be nice to see more players staying on a single team for most or all of their NFL careers.
Of course, players that counted that way against the cap and were up for a new contract could always refuse to sign a new contract. This way, you can't say any player is stuck on a single team.
I'm sure some of you will find some pitfalls with this concept, maybe several. But, I think this would be a great thing because it's become difficult to become a fan of an individual player due to all the movement or even potential of the movement.
