So, it’s your position that Lions had set their sights on Goff once Stafford asked for a trade? And that the late 1sts were just frosting on the cake?
And that it’s just incidental that Rams were rebuffed by every other team when Goff was offered in trade?
That’s a hard sell for most of us, man.
No it's not "most of us." This is not the only board, and in 2 other places, I am in the majority.
A good argument is a good argument whether or not there's a group that resists it.
This is absolutely substantial and very hard to legitimately cast aside: the GM who helped draft Goff and worked with the Rams for the 5 years Goff started turned down the opportunity to acquire other qbs and took Goff.
That has a lot of weight.
...
Well, allow me to turn that around in the interests of objectivity.
The highly regarded HC who helped draft Goff and worked with him intimately for 4 years couldn’t wait to trade up from him.
AND Holmes was being offered two 1sts and a 3rd this year in addition to Goff. It was never a strict QB for QB trade. Some feel that the picks for a Stafford that had asked for a trade was the big thing. Goff was almost a sweetener throw in.
Other than those two facts, your take was fair and complete.
