Re: Rich Eisen on the trade

So true.

I have some hope for Stafford to add some excitement but also for McVay to try even harder to make it work and that to me is the most critical point. McVay did not make the adjustments to help this offense be more effective and instead exposed his young QB to address. Clearly, Goff was inconsistent at overcoming some bad plays and some bad situations but the TOs seem to kill him in McVays eyes. There is no proof that McVay could not have revived our offense 2021and found that same spark if he were more commited to Goff but he did not determine that he wanted to. That is clear to me. Perhaps he has been under the gun because his offense has not been a top 5 offense for 2 years. IDK

McVay may have also suffered from the lust that comes when things are not going as good for you as they are with your friends and that some of them were stealing his buzz with more exciting QBs as far as style but we are seeing in this SB that you can get there with both types. You have to surround them with talent and you have to execute and it all has to come together. Mathew Stafford may have been more ideal for his offense but a younger Matt Stafford may be more effective today because this iteration and point of his career he should not be pressed to run as much or even advised to do so if they hope to see the better end on this investment.

If you are determined to change perhaps this is the best they could do and certainly, Stafford is a relevant talent but this is not a league that always rewards the etcha-sketch approach to starting in a new direction by totally shaking things up rather than patiently and persistently building. We shall soon see what can be done. I believe Matthew Stafford is a relevant and talented QB that has the skillset and credentials to pilot a successful team but the same things I feel would have given Jared a boost will still be the same things Matthew will need or this is all for naught. They are different styles but I can show enough highlights of Good and great Jared at his best to imagine that he would have done just as well and knowing he has done it before.
