Appreciate it because admittedly other than games the Rams play vs DET and other random Thursday night or Thanksgiving Day games I have never watched Stafford that closely.
I do think fit matters. And I can absolutely see how he fits the Rams scheme.
The Goff extension- doing it when they did vs after the 2019 season- was a huge mistake. No question. But to your point that does not mean you sit and just accept it and live with it for 4 years. Move on. For whatever reasons, things deteriorated with Goff and the team and it was past the point of no return.
Who knows how many years they have with Stafford. I would say if it is 3 or more good years then it will be well worth it. Maybe 4-5? I have a hard time seeing 10. Who knows.
The Rams have drafted well overall in the 2nd-6th rounds for 4 years now. It is a tall task but they have to do it three more times.
It was also a supply-demand thing. If not Stafford where else do they go? Fitzpatrick? Mariota? Darnold? Big drop offs there.. and I also have the feeling that if the Rams did not get him then SF very possibly would have.
