This seems like a terrible trade to me.
It seems as if the Rams figured Goff had zero (or negative) trade value, but it begs the question of what Stafford's trade value was... Why would Stafford - who was *officially* given permission to seek a trade - have more trade value than Goff, who hadn't been given that same permission?
I would have accepted a straight-up trade or one that only involving mid-rounders, but 2 firsts for the privilege of swapping "problems" with someone else?
It's perplexing.
If you're willing to part with picks, go get Watson.
I repeat: Go get Watson!!!
I'm stunned. As it stands, I think this trade will sink McVay, Snead, and possibly Demoff, unless they somehow miraculously flip Stafford for Watson.

Stafford seems to have the heavy advantage on ESPN's QBR, but it seems interesting that the old legacy stat of Passer Rating is more of a push (with Goff possessing the slight edge):
Goff: 91.5
Stafford: 89.9
I think Detroit wins this deal by a landslide. I actually expect Goff to outplay Stafford over the next few years in addition to enjoying the additional draft capital.
Wow.
Just my take.[/quote
This breaks from conventional wisdom.
We have to make this work with more handicap than anyone could honestly believe that Goff could be to this offense.
We now have the great Matthew Stafford , Not Dan Marino or Dan Fouts. I think Matthew is a solid QB but I do not think he has any upside and when we went to the SB or even McVays first year I never once mused that if we only had Matthew Stafford I think we would have gone all the way. I did not think that in year 4 or in 2020. There were QBs that I would venture that discussion or fantasy for but not Stafford.
We could have continued to build the team around Goff and inpove our offensive approach. and play calling this year and guess? We would be closer to our goal if not meet or exceed it. With Goff gone and draft capital we essentially cut Goff and still mortgaged our future. For fans saying we weren't going anywhere with Goff because of his inconsistency the past 2 years then what of McVays inconsistency. Most great HCs don't show the level of inconsistency that McVay has demonstrated. Snead apparently is a gambler and is addicted to the buzz so he has pushed all his chips in the center. Well that is a good a plan as he has shown and leaving us bankrupt.
He is now turned this team inside out and he is play this like a hopeful gambler purchases a scratchers and now is short on money to buy the essentials and this one is a scratcher, beleive me.
Los Angeles Rams
Rap on.
