all this talk on personnel is highly unlike McVay's style and leads me to think the same thing...

There's no way it's the coach who crossed a line or escalated something?
Because in theory it could be either one or both. And right now, since we know so little, everything's in theory.
When people respond to this saying I can't imagine the coach doing that, they're not telling me anything objectively real, they're telling me about themselves. That that's where your assumptions tend to go.
It's the same with negotiations and hold-outs. Among some, it's always about the player's bad motives in those situations. Management is always white-washed.
Well again all of this is in theory (till we know more) and in theory it can be either one or both.
