I get extending/restructuring AD and Ramsey.
After that, I don't mind the Goff trade but I suspect the Rams could get a player or two instead. Maybe even a QB with some years under his belt. The problem with a rookie QB is that this makes it 2 years of rebuilding unless you luck into a Russel Wilson or Mahommes.
If they can keep Hill for around $5 mil per year, they should. Young man is very good and won't be easy to replace.
While I'd love to keep Floyd, the ONLY thing that makes him good is AD. What we need is a guy who, if AD goes down (and it's bound to happen sooner or later as we just witnessed) can take it up a level. I think we saw a maxed out Floyd. If his number was in the $8 mil range, fine. But not $13 mil.
Rams need an upgrade at Center, not a jag. If they can sign an older but better vet for not much, do it and (I agree) draft Center high.
I'm ambivalent about Havenstein. If Evans or Noteboom can do equally well at RT, then fine. Evans showed me he probably could.
Thanks, RockRam!
I hear you on the rebuilding with a rookie QB. That's why I propose obtaining a younger QB with some NFL experience. Let 'em compete with the rookie.
And the counter to it taking 2 years to rebuild is, without Goff's huge salary, you can build up every other unit on the team since there is a lot of money available to do so.
It would be nice to keep Hill. I think he's going to cost quite a bit more than $5M. And I think Long is ready to replace him now.
Agreed that we need an edge player that's good without AD's help. I'm not convinced this year's draft class has one of those available in the range we will be selecting. In the meantime, my logic is, why not keep the #1 D as intact as possible?
After more thought, if the Rams are shedding Goff's contract they probably could afford a substantial upgrade at center. Maybe a Linsey from GB is a better plan. But if they do that, no need to also expend a high draft choice. As for a cheaper older vet, Ben Garland is still producing at a good level. He would be an upgrade over Blythe.
