I'll admit Minshew impressed up was Wash St.
And, I wasn't at all surprised to see him splash onto the field in the pros.
However, my problem with him is the upside, and the 2021 season.
The base question you posed, and that Goff failed, was can he win tough playoff games, and get the SB?
I'll narrow that question with Minshew replaced in the summing.
Much as I'd like to think that's a "YES" I don't see it.
and it does circle back to the number of years that the Rams expectations are off the charts with AD, Jalen, and that 5 BILLION dollar stadium
For me?
Minshew doesn't sell seats, and will that play upstairs when that gets examined around the executive offices???
Very good point on the Rams window with AD and Ramsey. The NFL stands for Not For Long and I think that window for the defense is about 3 years which means the Rams need to be making moves now.
I agree that Minshew wouldn't pass my two-pronged test now either.
Does Goff pass the test? No.
Does Minshew pass the test? No.
Then neither should be paid $35M b/c it's too hard to build a perennial contender around a guy who doesn't pass that test.
After trading Goff, my approach would be to keep drafting guys until they find the answer kind of like they did at RB. You have Henderson but you're not sure he's it so draft Akers.
Given all three of your points - window, QB that passes test, and QB that sales tickets in LA - I think the Rams should go all in for Watson.
