Hi, new member but long time lurker. Here is my opinion on Goff and possible plans going forth. First off I have not been super critical of Jared until this year. But it is painfully obvious thatHe is what he is going all the way back to Cal, that is a statue that winds up like a grandfather clock to get his passes off. That paired with small hands and below average pocket awareness Is not a championship formula. He can be very good when things are going good and plays are perfect as we have seen over his tenure. But that is not NFL reality and Mcvay knows it. PerfectionIn play call and execution on any given play is the exception not the rule. A great QB can overcome one and sometimes both, Jared Goff is not that guy. He can be good but not great.
1st option. Depending on what the Jets do, I think they start over again, I would go after Sam Darnold. I have seen him ruin USC for years to come by saving Clay Helton’s ass over and over Turning chicken @#$%& into chicken salad. I’ll just say I think Sam got “Jetted”. We might have to give up a 3rd and a player, maybe Kupp who maybe injury prone. He would be a sell high player who the Jets would want to pair with new QB. Remember there will be competition for Darnold.
2nd option How about Jordan Love? It’s apparent Green Bay won’t need him for more than a few years and his rookie contract would be wasted. They might want to get some return on him now. I know he was a first but picks are like cars they depreciate right off the lot. Maybe a 3rd gets him. And I like Love better than any QB in this years draft after Trey Lance. No to Mac Jones, Kyle Trask, etc. I love Ridder out of Cincinnati but he went back to school. Jordan Love has the skill set I think Mcvay wants and would relish molding.
Lastly I can see Goff being traded to Indy with Reich or to “gulp” the niners but we would get little to nothing in return, just some salary relief. And not much at that.
Sorry for the long post but just wanted to put it out there.
