He also didn't throw downfield to WRs those games. No long developing routes. Less opportunity for fumbles if he's not holding the ball long.
McVay has an amazing mind ... and he can plan around his QBs shortcomings ... but if he has to seriously pare down the playcalling I can't imagine he's going to be happy with that moving forward.
Jared has an average arm and a long windup. While his strength of sliding around in the pocket used to be great, I believe he has regressed there ... his awareness of where the rush is seems to have lessened.

I'm glad he came out strong off a broken thumb and played pretty well.
I am generally a pro Goff poster ... and I am not rescinding my overall faith in him. He's just at mid career crisis and he needs to fix some things. Also ... body language. You can lose a team's faith like that.
Also? Without deep speed the field got small this year, making him have to be perfect every play ... Overall I thought he did well enough, and I am excited about building around Akers.
